2) He also said he would send my husband and I a letter and a gift for our trouble. It is over 3 weeks later and no letter or gift has arrived. Please understand, it isn't about the gift, it is about a company who does not walk their talk. As consumers we have way too many options to leave our very hard earned money with a company that says one thing but does another. If I get home from work today and the letter is in the mailbox, I'll come back and add another update, but it seems incredibly unlikely.
UPDATE 11/16/2015
When we were interested in opening an IRA, IQ was such a disorganized and contradictory mess we ended up not choosing them.
We very recently went to them for a mortgage (my credit is great, income is stable, I am the perfect loan candidate) and again, they were a bumbling group of people; I was told to go into the office, and when I got there I was told to apply on line, so I go on-line only to face questions that I am unable to answer without speaking to a loan officer, which apparently isn't possible (I have since gotten the mortgage loan and it was smooth and seamless elsewhere). Today I called to ask how I would get copies of my bank statements and was told (again) to go on-line. I said I just tried and your website is down. She said "I know" we're working on it (she just sent me there mind you). I said I needed the statements and could I pick them up at the branch? She said yes, but it would be $2.00 a page.So I reviewed with her the website was down and she said "if you can just be patient we're working on it". At this point, it became crystal clear that IQ is not interested or training their people in how to actually HELP their clients in any way. Every time I attempt anything other than a very simple transaction with them, it is a hassle and the right hand has no idea what the left hand is doing and no hand cares a bit about customer service. I asked who I could speak to in order to lodge a complaint about my repeated experience at IQ and the person on the phone seemed at a complete loss as to who to connect me to, so I turned to Google reviews and social media. I strongly encourage you to go elsewhere if you're considering a credit union. This company is so poorly run they are unable to function at a higher level of service or offer products such as loans or retirement options to their customers in a smooth knowledgeable fashion. I rarely write a poor review, because as a business manager, I know how challenging it can be to train a team and offer great service every time to every client. I like to give the benefit of the doubt, but IQ used up every opportunity I gave them with confusion, apathy and not just a lack of service, but actually standing in the way of using the services they say they offer. Sorry to say it, but IQ earned every bit of this review.
All the tellers smile and coffee is free and for once good enough to actually drink!
Been with IQ for about 10 years. They went by a different name then. I have an account at USbank, which I would give a B. Chase I would give a D (when they were WAMU they were an A). I give an A+ to IQ. If all banks were run that way, bailouts would not have been necessary.
I regret moving our finances into IQ and intend to move them to a nearby credit union as soon as feasible. Here are a few of the reasons;
@AnotherBob...IQ is not exempt from writing crappy loans. In fact, the way IQ sells 100% of the mortgages they write, is exactly what caused the the financial crash. Don't be mistaken. They write the loans they can sell, PERIOD! Just like everyone else...
I've been a business and personal member for a couple years, and have been largely disappointed. While other credit unions are expanding services, IQ remains in the mesozoic era. Maybe some day they will be extinct like the rest of the dinosaurs. Assuming you have other options, I wouldn't recommend this aging bank in credit union clothes.
Shortly after I posted the review above, I was phoned by (I believe) the VP of branch support. He said all the right things, was attentive, owned the mistakes and assured me they were always striving to increase their level of service for their clients. It all sounded good, but 2 details said more about the reality than his words ever could;
In summary; a phone call is only as good as the real life service and follow through, and with IQ both are incredibly poor.
Had the best experience. Friendly and helpful people.
1) He said IQ prides themselves on creating intimate, personal relationships with their clients, especially when compared to the banks. Then, when I mentioned I had phoned the branch close to me, he asked where I got their phone number. I said I looked it up on Google, and he promptly replied "those numbers all go into a call center". Seriously? What is personal and intimate about a call center when I attempted to reach my hometown branch?
